Matthew McClure

The oldest of four, Matt is a native of Jonesville in central Louisiana. A 2006 graduate of UL Lafayette, he received his Master’s in Teaching from Northwestern State University in 2014.  Matt and his wife Meagan currently reside in Carencro with their three children; Emily (1st grade), Connor (kindergarten), and Nathan (future SPPS Knight).

Coach McClure comes with 16 years of experience in high school education and athletics. Fifteen of those have been in the Catholic high schools of Archbishop Shaw (2008) and Notre Dame (2009-2023). Along with teaching and coaching, he has served in numerous leadership positions in that time including head basketball coach, head track and field coach, school accreditation chair, and most recently assistant principal.

As an adult, I’ve come to appreciate the ability of athletics to help students learn and practice virtues that can translate into the more high stakes situations of life.
